Highlights from Our Annual Ball

12 December 2017
Leeway Ball

Every year, we host our charity ball which is our biggest fundraising event of the year. This year, our ball was held at the Sprowston Manor Manor Hotel and we welcomed over 170 guests. Through their support and generosity, we managed to raise in excess of £4000 and these funds will enable Leeway to continue to offer the specialist services and support to those adults, young people and children experiencing domestic abuse in Norfolk and Waveney.

Introduction and Tribute

The evening was opened by ITV News Arts Editor and Leeway Patron, Nina Nannar, who spoke about how she became involved in the charity and also touched on the work we do. Everyone stood to their feet and raised a glass in tribute to Kerri McAuley – whose family and friends attended in support of Leeway. Kerri's family are working in partnership on a Crowdfunding Campaign with the Eastern Daily Press to raise £10,000 for Leeway in memory of her.

Live Music and Dancing

We had a raffle and auction, with prizes kindly donated by many local businesses and supporters of Leeway. Nick Williams from Arnold’s Keys kindly offered to host the auction. We were also delighted to welcome back local band 'The Fuzz' that have played at our ball for the last three years and always manage to get everyone on their feet for a dance.

Special Recognition

A special recognition award was presented to Myron Larkowsky of EKS Living Clean for his consistent support of our events. EKS Living Clean were also our ball sponsors and donated prizes for the raffle and auction. Myron is something of a local legend and we are ever so grateful for the support he has given Leeway over the years and look forward to continuing to work with him in the future.

We’d like to say a big thank you to Sprowston Manor for providing an excellent venue, three course meal and efficient and friendly staff that kept the whole evening flowing smoothly.

Future Events

If you want to get involved in fundraising for Leeway, there’ll be loads of opportunities and events in 2018. Thrillseekers might want to sign up for a skydive and the more sedate among you could take part in one of our quarterly quizzes. Keep an eye on our events page for details of upcoming events.

We’ll also be updating Facebook and Twitter with news of events as they are announced.
