2017 has been a really busy year for Leeway. We've seen an increase in referrals of 27% - the number of people seeking our help has increased by over a quarter on last year. We try to help everyone that comes to us and our fundraising activities add to the funds we receive from grants and services that we are commissioned to deliver.
Here are some of the ways we raise money and some of the ways that we spend the money raised.
Pub Quizzes
Our regular pub quizzes have a great reputation amongst people who enjoy a challenge. For £10 a head, teams of quizzers can pit their wits against rival teams and our fiendish question setter. The price includes a meal and all the money raised goes to supporting Leeway in our work. Our Outreach project offers specialist one-to-one support to adults who are experiencing domestic abuse in Norfolk and Waveney. One pub quiz team enjoying a night out could fund a couple of hours of this vital outreach support.
Our September quiz is already booked up, but there’ll be another one along at Christmas – watch this space!
Skydives
Thrillseekers can get an adrenaline rush and raise money for a good cause at the same time by taking part in a sponsored skydive. Raise over three hundred pounds in sponsorship and we’ll cover the cost of your jump. One way we help women who have recently experienced domestic abuse is through our Power to Change programme. Specially trained supporters help small groups of women learn the dynamics of a healthy relationship and building their confidence and self-esteem. Twenty-one skydives would cover the cost of running one of these programmes.
Our next skydive event is on the 24th September, so why not sign up and take the jump for Leeway? A further skydive will also be taking place in March 2018 - we will post details of this very soon..
Leeway's Annual Ball
Sprowston Manor are incredibly supportive – giving us a great deal on the hire of their beautiful marquee style room and provision of a 3-course meal. This means that as much of the ticket price as possible goes towards our charitable cause. Leeway operate a extremely busy helpline that is a gateway to relevant support services. A table of ten at the ball could cover the cost of a person to staff our Advice and Support Line for a day.
Early bird tickets for our next black-tie ball on the 25th November are just £40. There will be a drinks reception, three course dinner, casino tables and live music from The Fuzz. To book your table or to find out more email admin@leewaynwa.org.uk.
