Fundraising: How You Can Help Leeway Make A Difference!

Like many charities up and down the country, Leeway relies heavily on the generosity of the local community. From one-off donations to ongoing fundraising, we greatly appreciate the support we receive from both individuals and businesses. Without their help, much of the support we provide to those experiencing domestic abuse simply would not be possible.

Speaking about the importance of fundraising, our Chief Executive, Mandy Proctor, said:

“Leeway provides specialist services to people affected by domestic abuse across Norfolk. We support over 8,600 adults, children and young people each year. The numbers of people asking for support is increasing every year and every pound raised for Leeway helps us to respond to the growing demand for our services

Your fundraising can make a huge difference to the lives of those affected by domestic abuse. Every penny raised, no matter how small, will help benefit those who need it most. Whether you’re a business, an organisation or individual, with your help we can increase awareness of domestic abuse and spread the message that there is help and support available.”

What Impact Could Your Fundraising Have?

You don’t need to raise hundreds or thousands of pounds to make a difference. Even the smallest amounts can help us to support those escaping domestic abuse:

• £10: Allows us to provide an activity pack and a toy for a child in our refuge.
• £15: Allows us to provide a starter pack for families, including toiletries and towels.
• £20: Allows us to provide a mobile phone which can be locked an emergency number.
• £50: Allows us to provide two hours phone line crisis support and advice.
• £100: Allows us to provide outreach support to 10 women.

How Can You Fundraise For Leeway?

The best thing about fundraising is that there are so many ways to have fun and make a difference at the same time. From adrenaline pumping activities to workplace events, here are just a few ideas to get you thinking:

• Get Involved With A Leeway Event: We host a wide variety of events throughout the year, with something to suit all interests. From pub quizzes to ghost walks, visit our Events page to see what’s happening near you.
  
• Set up A Fundraising Page: Fundraising pages, such as Virgin Money Giving, are a safe and secure way to raise funds. It is also an opportunity to share information, images, videos and updates on your progress.
  
• Challenge Yourself: Whether you choose to run, cycle, swim, walk or climb, there are so many ways you can challenge yourself. For something more daring, why not consider a bungee jump or parachute jump?
  
• Work or School Events: You don’t have to fundraise on your own – you could get your school or workplace on-board too. Maybe you could organise a sports tournament, a dress down day or a coffee morning. 
  
• Smaller Events: Raffles and a tombola are incredibly easy to setup and the profits can be shared between the winners and your fundraising.
  
• Larger Events: If you want to plan something on a larger scale, why not consider a karaoke night, a quiz or even a music concert?
