Refuge Domestic Abuse Caseworker

Salary: £24,509

Based: Breckland Refuge

Job Purpose:

  • To provide an effective, supportive and confidential service for women and children requiring emergency refuge accommodation.
  • To ensure that the refuge operational policies procedures are implemented and adhered to, and that all statistical data is collated and maintained for stakeholders and funding bodies.
  • To support the Refuge Services Co-ordinator in developing the Refuge Service to deliver the best possible outcomes for refuge residents.

Essential Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification and/or two years’ experience of working with women and children who are experiencing domestic violence, for a statutory or voluntary agency.

CAPVA (Child and Adolescent to Parent Violence and Abuse) IDVA

Job Purpose:

  • The CAPVA (Child and Adolescent to Parent Violence and Abuse) IDVA will be part of our team within the Norfolk Integrated Domestic Abuse Service (NIDAS), which is a community-based service providing flexible, safe, supportive, and confidential service.
  • The CAPVA Intervention is a new service for Norfolk where support is offered to the whole family when the child/ren/adolescent (8-18), engages in abusive and violent behaviours towards people close to them, usually a parent or adult carer. Abusive behaviour can include physical violence; emotional, economic, or sexual abuse; and coercive control. It may also include damage to property and abuse towards other family members, particularly siblings.
  • The purpose of the CAPVA IDVA role is to work in a multi-agency environment supporting both the child/adolescent and the non-abusive parent/s or care giver.
  • You will also provide holistic whole family support to encourage and empower non-abusive parents and children/young people to take control of their lives and assist them in making choices appropriate to their age and development level.
  • Full and accredited training will be provided to deliver RESPECT Young People Programme (RYPP) to work with young people and their families, encouraging everyone to take a role in stopping the abuse and learning respectful ways of managing conflict difficulty, and intimacy will be provided to give the skills and knowledge for the role, following a successful probation period.
  • This RESPECT Young People’s Programme (RYPP) is an evidenced based intervention designed to address CAPVA. This training will result in a nationally recognised qualification.
  • You will receive structured supervision sessions from RESPECT at scheduled intervals.
  • This role is subject to DBS and enhanced Police security clearance.

Key Functional Responsibilities:

  • To deliver the Respect Young People’s Programme with young people (8-18) and their families.

Triage Independent Domestic Abuse Advisor (IDVA)

Job Purpose:

  • The Triage IDVA will be part of our team within the Norfolk Integrated Domestic Abuse Service (NIDAS), a community-based service providing effective, safe, supportive, and confidential support for service users aged 16 plus and their families including children aged 5-18, who are assessed as high or medium risk, and living with or fleeing domestic abuse.
  • The purpose of the role is to work in a multi-agency environment providing an assessment of risk and offering a range of support to reduce the risk of further harm posed to service users and their families.
  • The support will be provided depending on the needs of the caller/referral through the phone, email, webchat or approved virtual apps as and when required. You will provide referrals to the NIDAS service identified by the referrals level of risk, including group support.
  • To triage all referrals and input all data onto an approved database in-line with reporting requirement and under the direction of the Senior IDVA.
  • Your support will ensure service users feel safe, happy with the service they are receiving and have the widest opportunities available to them to enhance their lives and improve their safety and wellbeing, using a strengths-based, trauma informed approach that is centred around their aims and aspirations.
  • You will participate in the rota system providing cover over 7 days a week represent the service by providing presentations and attending events as required and support the NIDAS Partnership Board in working towards the best possible outcomes for our service users.

Community Development and Group Recovery Facilitator

Job Purpose:

  • You will be part of our team delivering Norfolk Domestic Abuse Services (NIDAS), which is a community-based service providing effective, safe, supportive, and confidential support for service users aged 16 plus who are assessed as high or medium risk and are living with or fleeing domestic abuse.
  • To enhance the community response to domestic abuse in Norfolk by supporting a network of Domestic Abuse Champions working within services and organisations most likely to have contact with people who are or have been experiencing domestic abuse.
  • To support early intervention before risk increases by building the skills, knowledge, and capacity of others to identify victims of domestic abuse and respond appropriately.
  • To co-ordinate and deliver group programmes to provide support for the long-term recovery for survivors of domestic abuse and their children, to prevent re-victimisation and enable survivors to be better able to recover and cope with aspects of everyday life.

  • To develop the awareness, confidence, and skills of front-line staff to reduce risk and increase safety for victims of domestic abuse who may not already be engaged with services.
